About Patrick
In 1964 during my senior year of high school in West Los Angeles, Ca., I fell in love with photography when developing my own black and white prints in my high school’s darkroom. Through the lens of different cameras over the years beginning with a Yashika 35mm viewfinder camera and twin lens Rolleiflex, I documented events around me and shot many frames of film in more than 60 countries including all seven continents I have visited.
After attending a class in Santa Barbara, i wrote an article featuring six of my photograghs in a travel magazine entitled, “Rising with the Sun,” about observing the magnificent sunrise on top of the world’s largest dormant volcano Haleakala, on the island of Maui. I immediately was drawn to this most isolated island group in the world, especially with all the beautiful flora, and relocated to the Big Island upon retiring from successful 30 year sales career with a Fortune 500 company.
Having a degree in biology from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, I was blown away with the flora in Hawaii and have put 100% passion into my latest photographic slant. The amount of opportunities to photograph stunning tropical flowers and trees will sustain me with jubilation for the rest of my life.
